We are delighted with our Charnwood Country 4 woodburning stove. It is very easy to light and to control. It generates a suprising amount of heat given it’s size, and is very easy to clean. We have already recommended this model to friends considering purchasing a stove! 10/10.

RECOMMENDED BY FRIEND WHO ALREADY HAD A CHARNWOOD. SO PLEASED WITH EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. TOLD MY HUSBAND IF WE EVER MOVED WE WOULD HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER ONE. ON COLD WINTER DARK NIGHTS ITS SO RELAXING TO SEE THE FLAMES AND FEEL THE WARMTH OF OUR CHARNWOOD.

WE BROUGHT THE CHARNWOOD FROM A COMPANY CALLED FIRESONLINE AND THEY WHERE SO HELPFULL AND ANSWERED ANY QUESTIONS I HAD, I FELT VERY CONFIDENT TO BUY FROM THEM AND WOULD DO AGAIN.

We are really pleased with this purchase.
We could only have a small stove and this puts out a good amount of heat for it’s size.
It looks great and is a good build quality.
Expect to experiment with the airwash to find the best settings. If you put this on a slow burn then the glass will get dirty. It will clear up on a fast burn but I often find I need to give the glass a quick clean once a week before it’s next use. Not a much of a hassle.
Once lit it’s easy to put a few new logs on throughout the day.

We bought this to replace an open fire in the lounge of an old country cottage. We installed a stainless steel liner as the chimney no longer contained the flue gases. This stove has virtually heated the entire house through two very severe winters. The central heating boiler has consumed considerably less gas despite the much lower temperatures. In very cold periods the stove stayed on all night and only required adjustment of its air supply and refuelling in the morning. We purchased an ash carrier to make the task of emptying easier and cleaner. Our only negative comment would be that it burns through the clips on the riddler rod. This is obviously why they are sold in packs of 10!

We did a lot of research trying to find the right multifuel woodburner for a small room which would make it comfortable for us all. We had previously bought a much bigger stove and it was impossible to cope with the heat! The Charnwood 4 is very simple to use, lights quickly and throws out enough heat to heat the room and the kitchen. The robust build, wooden handle and surprising capacity for such a small stove has given rise to many a comment.
We would definitely recommend this stove, however one
criticism is the airwash, if you get it right no problems, but we have had to clean the glass more than expected.

A surprising amount of heat produced from this small stove but the wood must be very, very dry to get the full potential. It took some time to understand the bets settings for the air-wash system otherwise the stove was prone to blacking very quickly. A bolt-in boiler has been hugely beneficial and has reduced our electricity bills for heating water significantly. Always difficult to light the first time in a winter season but once the chimney has warmed up then lighting is very swift indeed.

Lovely looking stove which heats most of our small house even in the coldest weather reducing our gas bill considerably. You can use quite large logs for such a compact stove and the large glass window gives you a full view of the fire. Easy to control, but on the slow burn the glass gets very dirty. Haven’t managed to keep it alight all night, but it’s so easy to light and warms up so quickly this hasn’t been a problem. We have found you get the best fire when mixing larger logs with small off-cuts which reduces the need to refuel whilst still keeping a good amount of flame. Would definitely recommend this stove and would have no hesitation in buying another.

I was originally planning on purchasing a Morso 04 but eventually decided that the price of the Country 4 was unbeatable. I have no regrets. The quality is excellent. Like others have said it takes a little bit of experimentation and manipulation to get the perfect air settings but once you do the heat output and airwash is fantastic. Like with any stove, dry wood is a must if you want to keep the glass clean. Overall I believe this to be one of the best stoves on the market at the 4 kw rating. Certainly when it comes to value for money.

I previously had a Stovax but when I moved house last November decided to buy a Charnwood 4 after seeing how it perfomed at a friends house. The advantages over the Stovax are: larger viewing windows, glass stays cleaner, airwash is more reactive and the controllability is far superior. Obviously if you do not burn clean, dry wood the overall effectiveness is slightly different but the performance is still superb. On a slightly picky note the door handle would look better in cast. I would recommend this model to anyone who is considering a 4kw stove.

Needed a small stove as didn’t want to have to alter the existing fireplace, the Charnwood fitted perfectly. The heat output is ample for a medium sized room and has helped me save on my gas bill dramatically. It has proved not only easy to light but also easy to control and with the large glass panel I don’t miss having an open fire as the flames are still very apparent.
Fuel consumption is good, a basket of logs will last me several days and though the fire doesn’t stay in overnight it doesn’t take much relighting in the morning. I would and have recommended this fire to my friends as it has already quarter way paid for itself in the short time I have owned it. My only complaint is that 1 of the pins lifts out of the door hinge occasionally and needs banging back down.

Needed a small stove and chose this from a variety.
This is an excellent stove with a decent heat output. We have a 3 bedroom detached house and with tinder dry wood you can warm up most of the house from the lounge.
It has given us gas savings of over £100 per year.
The stove is easy to control, with good build quality. The stove is made on the isle of wight so parts are very easy to buy if necessary.
I have bought the multifuel option, however I have not used coal yet and probably unlikely to do so.
If you need a small stove this is fantastic.

Absolutely brilliant! I live on the Isle of Arran and believe me last winter was something else we were frozen in before Christmas and Christmas eve found friends digging a hole to get to the waterpipes that were frozen then racing back inside to ‘Mabel’ the stove.
There were those who thought the Almond colour that I chose was a mistake but it’s great, easy to clean, reliable and so fascinating I had a stream of viewers all wanting to know where it came from and .of course, the answere was/is Stoves on Line. I had a couple of phone calls to them and they were very helpful, understanding and humourous.
All in all a great buy and such a comfort!!

For seven cold winters I stuggled on with an open fire in a stone cottage up in the hills of rural Scotland. “Brrrrr”, is a major understatement! A friend explained to me last autumn that approx 80% of the heat from such a fire goes straight up the flue – whereas, with a burner such as this – approx 80% of the heat is retained. “OK”, I said, “I’ll give it a try”. What an amazing difference! It was shorts, t-shirts & flip-flops here all last winter – which if you recall, was rather chilly. I can only highly recommend this wee beauty … not only is the heat generation magnificent but also, the amount of fuel used is dramatically reduced.

The Charnwood 4 (using wood) deserves 10 out of 10 for everything. I agonised unneccesarily for ages online trying to decide which one to buy to upgrade from extortionate, ever rising, LPG reliance.

I have a 6m x 4m x 3m high sized room to heat in a below averagedly insulated cottage and was concerned this looked a little small. Its not ! Its perfect ! I even have to open the window to let some of that lovely heat escape sometimes- something I never did before upgrading. Save yourself any further concern- just buy one of these , you wont regret it !

This is our first wood buying stove and we are very pleased with all aspects of it. It is easy to use and gives out plenty of heat and seems to use a minimum of fuel. We are so impressed by it that we will be having a second one fitted in our home in 2012. It a pleasure to sit in front of it with a glass of wine and chill out.

I bought this stove from Firesonline.co.uk, their web site contains everything you need for installation and maintanance of your stove. Delivery was fast and on the date promised. The stove itself is excellent. It is easy to light, refuel and remove the ash. It has a large area of glass so you see alot of flame which really makes the room look warm and homely. It is great to use once you’ve found the best setting for the airwash. I would recommend this stove to friends and anyone who wants a great, compact and lovely looking stove.

Excellent build quality, compact, and easy to use. The stove looks lovely and for it’s size throws out a lot of heat. Our stove is free standing and we have cooked stews and soups on the top in a cast iron casserole dish and use a cast iron kettle to boil water on the top. It is difficult to keep the glass clean but a damp piece of kitchen paper dipped in ash cleans it up in no time so no problem. We would strongly recommend this stove. It makes us happy just to look at it.

Just installed this fire at the end of this summer. Had a small problem on delivery when I found that the glass had cracked in transit but after a couple of phone calls to firesonline a replacement was supplied.
I bought the mutifuel option but I haven’t tried fitting it yet as I’ve quite enjoyed burning wood. It’s still early days with getting used to controlling the fire and I’ve found that the logs I bought vary greatly in the way they light and how long they burn.
I have only had it alight about eight or nine times so far as it hasn’t really been cold enough to justify using it much.
Overall we are very pleased with it. The large glass door gives a good view of the flames and the heat output seems more than adequate for the present mild weather.
As mentioned by others, getting the right control settings seems to be a bit trial and error but I am enjoying the challenge.

My family loved the Charnwood Country 4 multi-fuel stove we had in our previous house so much that we had to make it one of the first things we bought for our new home!
It may be small compared to some versions but for an average-sized living room the heat it can belt out is more than satisfactory.
The Charnwood Country 4 is a nice-looking stove, with a large glass panel so you can enjoy watching your flames flickering away and know when it’s time to add another log, or a couple of lumps of coal.
The window stays fairly clean throughout and even if it gets a bit blackened an old piece of damp newspaper dipped in some ashes, cleans it up nicely.
Being new to stoves when we had out first one installed, we were somewhat anxious about its controllability compared to an open fire, but it is so much easier – and also safer when you have small children around.
The only problem I’ve ever had – and it probably says more about me than the stove – is spilling ash on removal. Not sure what can be done about that though!
