Dunsley Yorkshire Boiler Stove

Dunsley Yorkshire Stove Review

Efficient and clean enough to burn wood in smoke control areas, whilst still able to burn smokeless fuels, the Yorkshire stove is ‘one of a kind’. Emissions from the Yorkshire are so low that it very easily complies with the clean air act. Independent laboratory tests show efficiencies of over 70% on a whole range of fuels including wood. All this has been achieved on the Yorkshire without using catalyst combusters, which are very expensive to replace and can easily become damaged if coal or impure wood is burnt.

Easy to use heats almost immediatly and exceptional use from little amount of fuel. Great ash pan for emptying the stove and controlability of dust. Hotplate on the top can boil a kettle so there is no need for electric kettle in the winter. Overall excellent stove and value for money would recommend to all.

We changed from an ordinary back boiler for our heating at the same time as getting double glazing and more insulation in attic. The old system did not throw out very much heat from the fire . However this one is toasty in the room and heats the entire house. We also installed new thermostats on every rad so can turn off easily when room not in use. this helps to conserve fuel. with all these measures and the stove the house is warm every morning. We only used coal in the very bad weather and it heated the house up very quickly.More efficient if you keep it cleaned. All in all we are very happy with it.

We brought the fire to complement the solar tubes and supply hot water and heating. The fire itself is as you would expect, well made, easy to clean, robust. It has taken us a little while to work out how best to use it, It’s quite a large fire so needs stocking right up to get going, but that at least stops the window from fogging up. Even though we use seasoned hardwood (sometimes kiln dried) we get clouding of the window which is a little disappointing. The only disappointment was the delivery aspect of everything, I was sick at the time and the fire was left in the street for 4-5 days because the delivery guys refused to bring it in! The free flue that arrived was also the incorrect one as the stove needed an access point for cleaning. Overall good, but far from perfect.

We originally had this stove to run our cental heating and hot water in our 3 bed bungalow but have since disconnected the central heating in favour of the more instantaneous gas. However the boiler continues to heat the hot water in the winter magnificently and one centrally positioned double radiator. This now works much better and is more effective. The fire makes a lovely focal point as well as being an efficient water and space heater. We have no regrets with the systen we now have, though a little disappointed the full centralheating system from the stove did not really work practically. A powerful stove with a huge capacity. The attractiveness of the open fire with a cleaner and more efficient convenience. Many thanks to Firesonline for a great deal and a great boiler stove

all in all a good product. this fire produces a lot of heat, from very little wood, which is all good.
we’ve found ours difficult to start. there seems to be a lack of air at first – that was right from day one, so there can’t be any blockages. we have the room-sealed air kit installed, but when I tried temporarily removing it, lighting wasn’t any easier. however once things are warmed up it burns beautifully.
I tried taking out the glass to clean it, and all the fireproof seals disintegrated on removal – the fire is fairly new :-( I used fireclay to replace them.
stacks of heat are emitted into the room, and lots more into our central heating system. the thermostatic control is very good, you can turn all the airflow vents right down and still find usable embers 8 hours later.
as with other comments, the window glass soon coats inside with blackness, and needs cleaning regularly – I use nail varnish remover, which is quick and easy; perhaps not recommended by dunsley though!
finally, this fire is well built and required three strong men to install in my house.
