This is a fantastic central heating stove. One of the most efficient on the market at a fraction of the price of a clearview. Very controllable, stays in over night or during the day while we are at work even with wood. When burning wood I refuel twice a day and on coal it’s just once. Heats the house and water no problem and looks great.

The issues are: the single door model’s glass is vulnerable, i’ve gone through two in two years and the latch quality is poor, replaced after one year, though the second one is still going strong.

Overall: I would not buy different stove now, having lived with the Herald as our only heat source for two years I would not change it.

Had a hunter 20 years ago in my old house and it powered my heating and hot water with no bother.
Just purchased another, the largest in their range and taken it to France to heat our renovation project. Fitted in a few hours with a damper in the flue,of which we needed within a few days because of the wind. Build is definately better than my first one,but I can not remember any problems with that one either. Have a large open stair beside the large fireplace and the upsairs is warm as toast.
We can not wait for the cosy nights in.

the hunter 14central heating boiler is a amazing stove. It runs our six radiators very well, and we have lots of hot water. It was the best buy we have made, looks brilliant works brilliant with out any problems, and all our visitors comment on how warm the house is, and how brilliant it looks.it can’t be beaten specially last winter that was so cold but we were lovely and warm, It really came into it’s own then.We wouldn’t be with out it, it is my husbands pride and joy.As i said the best thing we have done getting this stove, and the best decision we made choosing it. Have owned this stove now for just over a year. This is the third Hunter we have bought and was chosen purely on the fact the other two had been so good. We have the wood only version with the central heating boiler at the book. The wood only model doesn’t come with a grate/ash pan and took a bit of getting used to as our other two were multi fuel. The fire is lit directly on the base and for this reason it doesn’t come with an ashpan and can be quite messy emptying as we have to use a shovel. The steel metalwork the latch locks into seems to bend with heat so over time the doors become looser also I have had to replace the heat rope around one of the dooors as it fell off. I would recommend a damper is fitted to give more control and be warned this stove eats wood! In the first year we used 20m3. Even with my minor problems I would recommmend this stove. It is in use nearly every day and when needed it will easily heat the house and hot water.
