Jotul F602 Stove Review

The Jotul F602 is available in two versions, standard (matt black paint only) with a solid cast iron door or cleanburn (matt black paint and blue-black enamel) with the addition of a decorative glass door to allow you to view the fire. Both options feature a useful hotplate, capable of boiling a kettle or cooking a casserole.

Fantastic little stove ideal for our narrow chimney breast in a farm cottage. Very easy to light and takes full length logs with ease which is a big advantage. Instructions recommend leaving a bed of ash. Produces convected heat from the stove’s metal body rather than radiant heat from the front glass and so takes a while to warm up the room. Once there the room stays toasting. Can be banked up with large logs and left for several hours, though probably not overnight. Hot plate works a treat with a kettle. Only very minor niggle is that the handle knob on the door can loosen off but easy to tighten and overall we are delighted with the Jotul.

This little beauty also known as the ‘Little Giant’ definately stands up to its name, a small stove with a big heart! ideal for smaller spaces given its size but would still make a larger space warm and toasty. We love our Jotul, we bought it with some wedding money we were given, it is rarely not on and is most definately the heart of our home, recently we moved out of the smaller lounge where the stove is situated into a larger room within the house, I have been feeling very lost and saddened over these few months but was’nt sure why, it dawned on me that it was due to us not being in the lounge with the fire! we moved back in there the other day and happiness and karma are once agin restored. I could honestly say that this stove was the best purchase we have ever made and will last for years, in fact it will probably out live us! definately well worth the money! its very easy to use, kicks out the heat, very well cratfed, in fact I cannot fault it one bit. When we purchased the stove we did so with the solid door! last year we went back to firesonline and purchased the glass door! so now we have a choice or a spare. I would always recommend this stove.

A robust little stove that gives out plenty of heat. It burns six hours or more at night and is easy to relight from the ashes in the morning. Once fired up it will cook breakfast and boil a kettle with ease.
