Morso 7110 Viking

Morso 7110 Viking Review

The Morso Viking, like all Morso cast iron stoves has a very large glass panel without any distracting cast iron bars in front on the glass and a superior air wash system to keep the glass clean for an unobstructed view of the fire. The Morso Viking has an advanced combustion system that emits 7kW of energy. The stove is designed with one door for ease of loading and also has a separate door for ash pan removal. Constructed to use pre-heated secondary as well as tertiary air to ensure the cleanest burn possible, the Morso Viking also comes with single air control for ease of operation, standard rear and bottom heat shields, reversible flue collar, as well as a standard heavy duty ash pan.

I’m disappointed with this stove. It replaced a Woodwarm Fireview which performed better. This fire is frankly useless with seasoned spruce, which is my main source.
(My Esse range has no such issues, neither did the Woodwarm) It works fine with hardwood, but there isn’t any around here!
I think the problem is that due to the design, it can’t build up a bed of ash – there is an open grate for ash to fall through. If you plan on using any form of conifer wood, avoid. Odd for a Nordic fire. Its a pity because it belts out heat when its working well, and looks good. Just no good for mixed conifer.
