Stovax Stockton 8 Wood/Multifuel

Stovax Stockon 8 Review.

The Stockton 8 incorporates the very latest cleanburn technology. This model is produced as a woodburning stove, but can be easily adapted to multi-fuel use with the optional static grate, burning wood or solid fuel with outstanding efficiency, resulting in more heat delivery into the room and less going up the chimney.

It works by using three separate airflows: primary air to burn solid fuel in the conventional way, plus airwash air to keep the window clean and pre-heated secondary or cleanburn air to burn excess hydrocarbons in the smoke. The Stockton 8 is available in a choice of subtle colours.

Stovax Stockton 8 Wood/Multifuel, 5.4 out of 10 based on 4 ratings

A sturdy stove with very good heat output. We have a smallish three bed semi and it’s man enough to heat the house as well as our huge conservatory during winter. I haven’t tried it with solid fuel but I imagine the max heat output is incredible. We burn hard and soft wood, heat logs and compressed paper logs and it burns well with them all.
The door seal fell off on 2nd use but was quite easy to replace using the included cement so I suppose that’s allowable.
We have the inset version and it is very neat indeed. The whole unit radiates heat for a good couple of hours after it’s gone out since it heats the whole stack.
It can let a bit of smoke out into the room during refuelling but I guess that’s to be expected too.
Make sure you get the surround slabbed correctly with an expansion joint on the section above the stove as our granite surround split in the heat and had to be replaced.

Great stove. Looks good and throws out a great deal of heat. One of the seals fell off after about 6 months but was replaced by the company, pin fell out of the door lock but easily replaced. Mine has two doors which work well and look very good. Airwash difficult to control to keep the glass clean. All thing considered I wish that I had fitted it years ago. I took the multifuel out very soon as could not get enough wood into the box.

we have the wood burning version. It is a great fire, heated my whole(very well insulated) house and hot water through the coldest part of last winter. no compliants.
It seems well built and efficient.
The only real problem i’ve had was in fiting the back boiler. It just woul not fit inside the body of the fire I couldn’t get any information from anyone about what was wrong. After much frustration I was put in touch with the workshop where they fit them and told you have to grind bits of steel off the inside off the fire it would be god if stovax supplies this advice in thier fitting instructions.
As I say though a good stove and really good value for money.

    View 8 not performing well.

Its difficult to rate these stars when:
    No Heat
Wood just smoulders (using less than 20%)
Using Kiln dried Kindling – loads of it with wax fire lighters provided by Orion Heating.
Now have tried a different Cowl but still not performing.

Was fitted by reputable fitter and purchased from Orion Heating in Takley.
